I have never in my life seen so much disease, unrest, anger and hatred.  Everyday throughout the world, there are hundreds of reports.  I remember how it was back in years past.  One hardly ever heard of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, riots, mass shootings, road rage and constant political upheaval.  In fact, when we heard a friend’s sad medical news, we became alarmed and unsettled of heart.  Lately, these incidences have increased to weekly, daily and many times hourly occurrences.  Many of us are numbed by all of this and no longer react.

So, what is causing this major change in our society?  Have you truly sat back in your armchair and tried to figure this out?  Have you searched and pondered the Scriptures to see if there is an answer hidden there?  Most of us have Bible cellphone apps.  Really, there is no reason for our ignorance. The Bible has all the clues...greed, power, control...sin!

Speaking of which, our lives have become saturated or should I say, controlled by technology.  Regretfully, most people can’t go anywhere without their cellphones--heads down, eyes blurry from blue light and sore necks by the end of the day.  Does this sound familiar to you?  How many millions (?) of cellphones are there?  Just how many frustrated, angry and unhappy crook-necked people are there?

Then think computers, TV, radio, games and other forms of media that have their teeth in our brains, controlling our minds.  Selfies, constant negative national and world news, social media, etc permeate our very being.  Is it any wonder that there is so much chaos in the world, our community, our families and our lives?  Is it any wonder that there is a major increase in anger, bitterness and disease in so many people?

Speaking personally, I can see how anger and bitterness have increased and damaged me mentally, spiritually and physically in the past.  I want to resolve these negative qualities in my life and focus on the Father's Word and Yeshua/Jesus' gift.  My desire is to help others do the same.   Let’s work this out together.  (Does that sound familiar?)  Remember, the Scriptures tell us that “the truth will set you free.”  Does this mean freedom from sickness, anger, bitterness and hate?  I’m hoping that my short article will address these and other negative character qualities to help all of us produce some great fruit in our lives to heal us and help us get the message out so that others will be healed also.

Hey, we all understand the blame-game.  It is always easier to pass the buck and make someone else guilty for a crime, any kind of crime than to accept the responsibility for our actions.  In most cases, taking responsibility for our actions has become non-existent.  The sad part is that many times what we are blaming “that person” for, we are doing ourselves.  At this point, we believe we are right and that other guy is the evil or wicked one, a little looney at best.

Forgiveness, we don’t really have a choice.

It is known by many in the medical field that bitterness directly affects the digestive system.  That system includes the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder and pancreas.  Bitterness, even hidden bitterness, causes stress.  Our lack of forgiveness toward an offender can wreak havoc in our bodies until the stress begins to destroy one or more of these organs, cause food sensitivities, inflammatory diseases and/or autoimmune diseases. (Matthew 5, 6 and 7) Now couple this with GMO or packaged foods, chemical-laden water and chemicals falling from the sky.  Let's add to that pharmaceuticals and vaccines.

Anger, easily turned to bitterness, might even have developed in our childhood.  Yet, we are warned not to allow this to happen or continue to let it fester.  We must forgive our offenders.  (Matthew 18:21, 22)  If we don’t forgive, the Scriptures state that Yeshua/Jesus our Savior, will not forgive us.  (Matthew 5:22-24; 18:35; Mark 11:24-26)  Forgiveness is not always an easy task, especially if the “hurt” has continued for many years, but it is a must do.  Remember two things: our health and our walk with Yeshua/Jesus are depending on this exercise of the heart.

Well then, the lesson is to forgive, fully.  We cannot continue to think we are right and they are wrong.  We have to see our part in the matter and correct it.  If we humble ourselves in the sight of Yah, He will lift us up and we shall be free indeed.  Those are promises.  (Psalm 147:6; 149:4; Proverbs 11:2; James 4:10; 1 Peter 5:6) And, if we actually had no part in the offense, forgive anyway.  This will free up the Spirit to take action against the offender.

Do you know that the digestive system (the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder and pancreas) is your first line of defense against food antigens, pathogenic bacteria, organisms and other toxic substances?  Any amount of bitterness can directly affect its ability to function and can actually turn the body against itself.   If the digestive system is not functioning properly, our entire being will suffer.

There are ways to resolve the bitterness that easily entangles our hearts, guts and brains.  Yes, these are our three intelligence centers of the body.  Did you know there are one hundred million neurotransmitters lining the length of the gut?  This is approximately the same as found in the brain.  Many medical researchers, like Michael D. Gershon, M.D. author of The Second Brain (HarperCollins, NY 2000), have discovered this amazing truth.

So, our first line of “defense” is to first know the Savior, Yeshua/Jesus.  It is important that the word know is understood as an intimate relationship that culminates in acts of obedience to His Word, the Scriptures.  This is not fire insurance.  You will know if you purchased the wrong insurance policy.  You just won’t have much of a desire to obey His Word and will consider that what you do on a Sunday will absolve you to practice the same old sins on Monday.  Yah is a loving God, but He is also a Just God who means what He says. And, He didn't command church service on Sunday.

The next way we can defend ourselves is by simply denying ourselves.  (Luke 9:23-26)  This is not the same as self-denial, which means we set aside for a season some pleasure we enjoy.  It actually refers to removing ourselves from whatever obstructs our relationship with the Messiah and withdrawing ourselves from the fellowship of those who refuse to deny themselves.  In essence, we must be determined to do what is right and obey.  This is a key character quality:  determination to do right.  ”All of you should clothe yourselves in humility toward one another, because God opposes the arrogant, but to the humble He gives grace.”

TRUTH!!! LIES!!! Which do you prefer?

The TRUTH may hurt for a little while, but a LIE will hurt forever!

Have you ever checked out NASA's budget to see how much they receive daily?  You should.  You are paying for this.

Is there anything left that we have been told is TRUTH when in fact it is a blatant, in-your-face LIE? Education, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food production, climate change, finances, shape of the earth, where fuel comes from (dead dinosaurs LOL), we are running out of water, criss-crossed, white fluffy stripes in the sky are clouds, vaccines are safe and effective, unvaccinated children are dangerous to vaccinated children (think about that for a while), we have to build a third Temple... And on and on it goes.

Are you old enough to remember some of these? Thank you to Marcia in NC for sending these really kool words and phrases.

Mergatroyd? Do you remember that word? Would you believe the spell-checker did not recognize the word, Mergatroyd?

Heavens to Mergatroyd!

The other day a not so elderly (I say 75) lady said something to her son about driving a Jalopy; and he looked at her quizzically and said, "What the heck is a Jalopy?" He had never heard of the word jalopy! She knew she was old ... But not that old!

Well, I hope you are Hunky Dory after you read this and chuckle.

About a month ago, I illuminated some old expressions that have become obsolete because of the inexorable march of technology. These phrases included: Don't touch that dial; Carbon copy; You sound like a broken record; and Hung out to dry.

Back in the olden days we had a lot of moxie.  We'd put on our best bib and tucker, to straighten up and fly right.

Heavens to Betsy! Gee whillikers! Jumping Jehoshaphat! Holey Moley!

We were in like Flynn and living the life of Riley; and even a regular guy couldn't accuse us of being a knucklehead, a nincompoop or a pill. Not for all the tea in China!

Back in the olden days, life used to be swell, but when's the last time anything was swell? Swell has gone the way of beehives, pageboys and the D.A.; of spats, knickers, fedoras, poodle skirts, saddle shoes, and pedal pushers.

Oh, my aching back! Kilroy was here, but he isn't anymore.

We wake up from what surely has been just a short nap, and before we can say, "Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle!" Or, "This is a fine kettle of fish!" We discover that the words we grew up with, the words that seemed omnipresent, as oxygen, have vanished with scarcely a notice from our tongues and our pens and our keyboards.

Poof, go the words of our youth, the words we've left behind. We blink, and they're gone.

Where have all those great phrases gone?

Long gone: Pshaw, The milkman did it. Hey! It's your nickel. Don't forget to pull the chain. Knee high to a grasshopper.

Well, Fiddlesticks! Going like sixty. I'll see you in the funny papers. Don't take any wooden nickels. Wake up and smell the roses.

It turns out there are more of these lost words and expressions than Carter has liver pills.

This can be disturbing stuff! (Carter's Little Liver Pills are gone too!)

Leaves us to wonder where Superman will find a phone booth.

See ya later, alligator! Okidoki.

You'll notice they left out "Monkey Business"!!!
